Tony Alberga

Anthony Alberga CHAIRMAN & CEO

Anthony is involved in the acquisition, asset management, leasing and development of The Downing Street Group's real estate investments. 

Before joining The Downing Street Group, Anthony was a founding shareholder of a successful real estate development company whose major shareholder was a large Canadian life insurance company. He developed a property portfolio, valued in excess of $500 million, consisting of commercial, industrial and residential real estate. The developments included substantial office buildings, such as the Hong Kong Bank of Canada’s prestigious 442,000 square foot head office in Vancouver.

Anthony holds a Bachelor of Science (BSC) degree from the University of Glasgow, Scotland.

2 Dan Odorico-1

Daniel Odorico PRESIDENT & CFO

Daniel founded The Downing Street Group in 1986. Daniel oversees the overall acquisition, asset management and disposition of real estate over a number of investment platforms.

Daniel led The Downing Street Group’s ownership, management and disposition of its portfolio of downtown Toronto high-rise office buildings, industrial buildings, shopping centres, and apartment buildings totalling approximately 3.5 million square feet. Daniel has led a number of successful joint ventures with both institutional and private partners over the years. 

Daniel holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.

8 Mark Canale-1


Marc is responsible for raising capital for The Downing Street Group’s various equity and debt platforms, liaising with its investors and the management of the firm's operations. In addition, Marc overseas the mortgage lending business.  

Marc has over 19 years of experience in the real estate industry working extensively in both Asia and Canada. Marc joined Downing Street after working in Asia for five years. He worked for an international real estate advisory firm based in Shanghai for four years, followed by a year based in Singapore. Prior to living and working in Asia, Marc worked as a commercial realtor in Toronto with a well-known real estate firm. 

Marc holds an Honours BA in Geography (Urban Development) from the University of Western Ontario. He is licensed by both RECO as a Realtor and by FSCO as a Mortgage Agent.

10 Lisa Swiekatun-1


Lisa is responsible for overseeing The Downing Street Group’s research and underwriting department. Along with her team, Lisa provides research and analysis on real estate financings, acquisitions and development opportunities. 

Previously, Lisa held real estate and development roles with a seniors housing company, a major lending institution, as well as real estate investment and asset management firms. 

Lisa holds a BA from the University of Toronto and has completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC).

Mark_Stirpe Downing Street Group

Downing Street Residential Partners

Mark is responsible for The Downing Street Group's residential development and management platform. Mark oversees all project, construction and development management for both ground oriented and mid-rise residential developments.

Mark has over 14 years of experience in real estate development and sales. He has held senior executive roles in residential building corporations responsible for some of the finest homes in the GTA and surrounding areas.
Mark holds a Master of Engineering (M.A.Sc.) degree from the University of Toronto. He also holds a certification (with Honours) in Construction Project Management and has been a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario since 1999. 

7 Jeff Cai-1


Jeff is responsible for asset and development management of commercial, office and industrial properties with The Downing Street Group. 

Jeff has over 9 years of experience in real estate development. He previously worked with institutional and high-net worth investors, a family office in the United States, a private real estate fund in Canada, and a leading insurance company in Asia.
Jeff holds an MBA from Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and a Master of Architecture from McGill University. Jeff is a CFA charterholder. 

Gene Oxrud Downing Street


Gene is responsible for underwriting new investment opportunities for The Downing Street Group’s various investment platforms. He also provides asset management services for new and existing investments.   

Gene has a few years of experience as an investment banking analyst, with a particular focus on the metals and mining space. Prior to joining The Downing Street Group, Gene held the position of Financial Analyst for four years with a significant North American commercial real estate developer.

Gene holds an undergraduate degree in Finance, as well as an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University. He is in the process of becoming a licensed Realtor.      


9 Gil McLachlan-1


Gil focuses on sourcing and structuring debt for all types of real estate transactions handled by The Downing Street Group. 

Gil began his career in real estate in the late 1970s working for a major Canadian life insurance company. He then joined a major Canadian trust company where he focused on commercial mortgages and company-owned real estate assets. Gil then moved to the mortgage brokerage side of the business with Kopas & Burritt Financial Agents Ltd. and First Marathon Mortgage Corp. in the late 1990s. He has been involved in over $3-billion dollars worth of commercial mortgages, including term debt, construction and equity financing, during his career.

Gil holds a BA in Urban Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University and is licensed by FSCO as a Mortgage Broker.

Judd_Downing Street Group


Judd is responsible for the origination of mortgage lending opportunities at The Downing Street Group. His role also includes managing due diligence materials in support of the firm’s loan underwriting and mortgage enforcement department.

Prior to joining The Downing Street Group, Judd held the position of Analyst with one of Canada’s largest non-bank commercial lenders with a particular focus on alternative real estate lending.

Judd holds an undergraduate degree in Business from Ryerson University and is a CFA charterholder. He is also a licensed Mortgage Agent.

Jerome_Staff_Downing Street Group


Jerome is responsible for facilities management for all of The Downing Street Group’s properties.                           

Jerome has 11 years of experience in the construction industry working with numerous commercial and residential developers. Prior to joining The Downing Street Group, Jerome managed new development construction sites across Ontario and was the maintenance manager for a large corporation based in Alberta.

Jerome holds a Heavy Equipment Operators Certificate.  Jerome is also a Joint Health and Safety Certified Member of the Ministry of Labour under section 7.6 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.   

Adnan_Staff_Downing Street Group


Adnan is responsible for overseeing corporate financial reporting and general accounting duties for all of The Downing Street Group’s real estate projects and mortgages.

Adnan has more than 9 years of experience in the real estate and construction industries. Prior to joining The Downing Street Group, Adnan worked on a very prominent real estate development in downtown Toronto.

Adnan holds a Bachelor of Administrative Studies with a major in Accounting and Business Administration from York University. He is currently pursuing his CPA designation.

5 Janet Hinze-1


Janet is Executive Assistant to the partners at The Downing Street Group.

Janet has been with The Downing Street Group for over 22 years and is responsible for the management of all administrative matters at the firm. Her administrative duties extend into various corporate matters, including executive support, client liaison and reporting, investor relations, and a vast array of administrative and accounting duties. Before joining The Downing Street Group, Janet worked for several corporations in the United States.
